 The First Born

Have you noticed how much is done for the first born that is not done for the others? It kindly makes you feel badly when you think about it. Bobby carved Angela's portrait in wood and it is so beautiful. He intended to do the other two Grands, but his hands really bothered him about the time when he would have been carving them.

We had two baby books given to us in our baby shower for our firstborn. We proceeded to fill them both out with his information. lol When our daughter was born 20 months later, we didn't get a baby shower because we had moved to Amarillo just three weeks prior and knew hardly anyone.

In the months that followed though we improvised one of the "used" baby books for her. It makes us feel really bad when we think about it, although it doesn't mean that we love the others any less.

When I think about it in a spiritual light, I realize that we come by it naturally. Christ is the firstborn Son of God. He was with Him in the creation and came to earth in human form many years later. He is deity with God. He received lots of attention from His Father. His Father even stated in the Bible that "He is His beloved Son and...He Loves Him".

When we are obedient to His Word, we become His adopted children...but...if you think the Father loves us any less....LOOK AT THE CROSS! (Matthew 26: 36-27:55.)

Better yet, read the whole redemption story: Genesis 1:1 through Revelation 22:21 Jesus laid down His life for us before we were His friends... (John 15:14) "Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. "

He also stated: "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13 That kind of love is beyond our human comprehension and He deserves our all!

 The Winds Of Life

THE WINDS OF LIFE

Bobby and I were traveling back home from a trip to see our son and daughter in Borger, Texas and between Pampa and Elk City the wind was blowing hard. Bobby said the wind was from the North but I thought it was from the south because the trees were leaning heavily toward the north. We argued (imagine that, lol) until we came to some flags that the phone company had put up for markers...and sure enough, the wind was from the north like he said. I told him that would make a good article on rearing children. I got out my paper and pencil and after we had traveled about a hundred miles, I could not get an article started...but by the time we got back home I had this poem down on paper. This may have been my first poem...can't really remember.

THE WINDS OF LIFE

While traveling down the road one day

We saw a wondrous sight!

The wind was from the North that day

And blowing with all its might.

But it didn't phase those old elm trees

That grew along the road;

they still leaned toward the North

And kept their true abode.

Yes, the North wind blew, but it didn't change

The form of those old trees;

Because they were already formed

By the regular Southern breeze.

God, Who created your little one

Has plans for your child's life;

and no matter how well you do your job,,

there will be winds of strife.

 For Satan and his helpers

Will try to change his ways.....

But if he is grounded in Jesus Christ,

You will have cause for praise.

Yes, train your little one for God,

and when life's strong winds blow'

He will be formed as God desires

And his heart be white as snow.

Then when he grows up and leaves your side,

For sure will come the breeze;

But he'll be grounded firm and strong...

Just like those old elm trees!

 WHAT COLOR IS FREEDOM?

We all love Old Glory

With its stripes and its stars;

It represents freedom

And stands tall in our wars!

Some say the color of freedom

Is the Red, White and Blue...

But I think that freedom

Is the color of YOU!

We fight for freedom

For others too...

All deserve freedom

This we know is so true!

Whether you go to the service

Or stay home and pray...

The value of freedom

Is served either way.

We love our old flag

With a love that is true!

But the color of freedom

Is the color of YOU!

 Bird Nest In Pickup

This bird nest of tiny eggs was under the hood of our pickup. I don't know if it was a wren or some other kind of bird, but we felt so sorry for her that Bobby wouldn't drive our pickup for about a month.

Bobby checked on it later and it had gotten so hot where he had it parked, that the mother bird had vacated the nest, and in doing so, she lost 7 little birds. I guess she found a place more suitable to start her family. I surely hope so!

This little bird reminded me of Lot, Abraham's nephew...who pitched his tent toward Sodom? Genesis 13: 12-13. Lot should have left as soon as he arrived there and saw how evil the people were. But Lot stayed faithful to God even though all around him were evil people...and was led out of the city when it was destroyed. Genesis 19

Many people move their families to "Sodom" today without realizing their mistake until it is too late and they are already grownup. Don't wait until your children are grown...to start putting God first, when you think you will have more time for 'religion'.  Share Him with them now while they are still growing up...you will be so glad you did!

 Our Lives Are Letters Written To Others.

Our Lives are messages, either good or bad ones, that are being presented to others daily. How are we presenting ourselves to the ones with whom we come in contact...with our actions, how we dress and present ourselves to others and also with the words we speak...especially to the little children who may happen to live at our house? May we live in a way that God could look at the sermon we are preaching by our lives each day, and say: "I am the God of Heaven...and I approve this message!"

2 Corinthians 3:2-3: "Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men: Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart."
